When Lord Dollhouse become Governor General of Bengal He used the policy of maximum expansion of free India . Satara was the first state enacted to British India through the policy of direct subordination. Avadh and Sikkim annexed under the policy of misgovern.  

From 1773 EIC started to control by the British Parliament through Regulation act of 1773. Warren hasting appointed as governor general of Bengal and British officially started political establishment in India.In 1786 he impeached from his position due to various reasons like personal corruption. And Cornwallis came to power. He is known as father of Indian civil service. he introduced permanent settlement system in Bengal which include the sun set law. It was successful in the initial days but ultimately it became a failure. during the period of William bentick sati abolished in India  In 1813 and 1833 British came up with charter acts.

In the year 1600 East India company Established in Britain. by the year 1608 they reached India with complete monopoly of trade. initially Indian rulers where opposed them Portuguese Dutch and France where dominating in India during that period. Through battle of Plassy east India company started political Intervention in India and by battle of buxar they became the strongest power in India.
